Who has access to the biometric information CLEAR collects?

Only CLEAR has access to a member’s biometric data. Maintaining the trust of our members is paramount in everything we do – we go to great lengths to secure our members’ data and protect their privacy.

What steps does CLEAR take to protect my information?

CLEAR’s security program was implemented in accordance with the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s Special Publication 800-53 rev 4, security control framework. CLEAR’s comprehensive information security program utilizes industry best practices with administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect against anticipated threats or hazards to the security, confidentiality or integrity of CLEAR systems and information. Such practices include, but are not limited to, encryption at rest and in transit, firewalls, multi-factor authentication, personnel security, privacy and security training, and intrusion detection and data leakage tools. CLEAR was certified as FISMA High which governs requirements for protecting sensitive data by the Department of Homeland Security.

What does it mean to be SAFETY Act certified?

The SAFETY Act is a piece of legislation enacted to encourage companies to create innovative technologies to mitigate security risks.CLEAR is certified by the Department of Homeland Security as a “Qualified Anti-Terrorism Technology” under the SAFETY Act. This certification affirms the rigor and integrity of CLEAR’s systems and processes and demonstrates that we meet the evaluation criteria of the DHS Science and Technology Directorate for effective protection of safety and security.

What does it mean to be FISMA High compliant?

After completing a rigorous evaluation of CLEAR's technology, operations, and overall security program, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has determined that our biometric identity platform meets FISMA High compliance requirements for protecting sensitive data. Achieving High compliance reflects our steadfast commitment to maintaining the highest level of data security to support our members and further the nation's top security priorities.

Which biometrics does CLEAR capture?

Today, CLEAR uses facial, iris and fingerprint biometrics. When you enroll in CLEAR, a CLEAR Ambassador will work with you to capture images of your iris, fingerprints, and face.
