Don’t Forget to Link CLEAR to Hawaii Safe Travels
Frequenly Asked Questions
How can I improve the chances of a successful CDC Card upload in the CLEAR app?
Please use the following tips to capture an image of your CDC Card:
- ensure your fingers are not over the edges of the document.
- take the photo in a well-lit area, with a dark background, even light, and no shadows.
- ensure the information on the CDC card is clearly visible (no glare).
If your CDC card is heavily damaged or has a sticker applied that obstructs the card template, our system is unlikely to accept the upload. If you cannot successfully upload your vaccination record with CLEAR, we recommend uploading a photo of your credential directly on the Hawaii Safe Travels website in the “COVID Vaccine Exception” section of the “Apply for Exemption/Exception from Quarantine” page.
How do I know when I’ve completed my Health Pass?
Upon completion of a Health Pass in the CLEAR app, you will see a color-coded screen that includes a picture of your face above a QR code, and an “expires in” countdown timer. Members who used a vaccination record to create a Health Pass will see a green screen. Members who use a negative COVID-19 test to create a Health Pass will see a gold screen.
It is important to note that the quarantine exemption process is not complete until you link your CLEAR Health Pass with a unique trip on the Hawaii Safe Travels website. You can do this by choosing“CLEAR Exception” option under the “Apply for Exemption/Exception from Quarantine” page.
What is the benefit to using CLEAR Health Pass over Hawaii trusted travel partners?
Quicker access and more lab choices. With CLEAR you can link your digitally verified test results or proof of vaccination directly into the Hawaii Safe Travels portal to satisfy the quarantine exemption requirements. Most airlines will verify your status by scanning the QR-Code provided by Hawaii and provide you with a wristband that allows you to skip the verification line upon arrival in Hawaii.
